Round Trip Coffee Florida to Texas…
Recently, Team Barrett did a road trip. We drank coffee on the way.
As a precaution, we even brought along a Keurig, half and half on ice, ceramic mugs and a bucket of Beaniac Organic French Roast pods. This made hotel morning launches more synchronous with the flow of our journey.
We are writing a series of posts about coffee shops we visited on the way through Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas.
Our Worst Coffee Day
Some days it seems like the coffee stars don’t line up right when you’re traveling. This day was one of those ‘mis-aligned star days’.
This was the first day of our return trip from Dallas to Florida. We got a bad start and that kind of set the tone for the whole day. Normally, we just keep our heads down when this happens and the day adjusts – like a boat righting itself after turbulence – and we go about our day.
But this day just continued to get worse (regarding coffee), the more we tried to fix it. We stopped at 4 locations that day and the best coffee we found was at a travel center.
It’s kind of funny in retrospect but it didn’t seem funny at the time. Everything gets magnified when you’re burned out anyway, ever notice that?

There Is a Coffee Culture in Florida
Maybe you’ve read some of our commentary about Florida coffee in the past. Our perception has been consistently underwhelming coffee quality in the gulf coast area; severely lacking a coffee-culture. To set the record straight, we found there is a coffee culture in Florida.
One segment of it exists in Tallahassee.
We’ll Take a Look at a Few Other Coffee Shops Too…
Out of that group of coffee shops we found TWO to add to our exceptional list, two pretty darn good ones, and two don’t bothers.
More to come…
