Javatino Coffee – Orlando, Fl
When you’re in business, every once in a while you get a chance to meet quality people.
My best memories are all about relationships with both vendors and customers. When your business grows, ultimately it’s because good people helped you and supported you along the way. When they needed it, you were there for them too.
These memories are like fabrics woven from friendships that developed over time.
What you remember most…
is the way you solved problems, got through the hard times and the people that helped you get through them.
You remember laughter and kindness and quality character above all else.
Today, it felt like we were fortunate to meet some quality people – the kind those memories are built upon.
Team Barrett went to Orlando to meet the founder of Javatino Coffee, Jose Estorino, and staff.
Warm Hospitality and Exceptional Coffee Expertise
The time, warmth and courtesy the Javatino Team extended us is greatly appreciated. Every person on the team knows coffee and is meticulous about quality, execution and presentation. Lots of attention to details.
They fussed over us and it felt good. Plus they were really sweet to our puppy, Javi.
As artisan roasters, they produce a singular high quality line of really good coffee.
My wife asked Jose:
“How did you get into the coffee business?”
Jose responded (paraphrased):
“I was in international business for 33 years, in 88 countries. I decided it was time for a change in lifestyle yet felt like I was too young to retire. I wanted something tangible and I love coffee. So I chose the coffee roasting business. Over the course of all those years, I became familiar with the variations and nuances of coffee culture throughout the world.”
Imagine the magnitude of your understanding of the world of coffee if you had been able to do business worldwide for 33 years and travel 88 countries.
What a coffee resource Jose Estorino is.
He has another outstanding quality: humility. It’s something that we admire in successful people – who wear it well – similar to the way a custom tailored shirt fits. It belongs there.
We Had Espresso…
In fact, we had incredible espresso.
Javatino roasts an espresso Jose named: Cuba Joe’s Espresso.
We had it before one time – on Christmas. I ordered it online so I could surprise my wife with an organic espresso (at home) on Christmas day.
She also got a Cafelat Robot manual espresso maker that day and we needed coffee to try it out. It took a while to figure out how to use the Robot properly. The first attempts were verging on disastrous which rubbed the it-has-to-be-perfect component of my personality the wrong way.
Like fingernails on a blackboard.
But it was not the coffee’s fault.
It was my ineptitude with the espresso maker out of the box. It turns out the limiting factor on a Robot is pressure. Once we figured out the Robot, we loved Cuba Joe’s. It was really nice espresso.
Today, at Javatino’s, we had Cuba Joe’s extracted through a Simonelli espresso machine.
Both the flavor and the body were excellent.
What a difference stable pressure and heat make.
Next, The Javatino Team Served Us Two Pour-Overs…
The first was Javatino’s Signature Blend.
Man was it smooth. They achieve this result by roasting 3/4 of the batch dark and 1/4 of the roast medium and then blending them.
It’s really terrific coffee with almost none of the “bitter” you normally taste in a dark roast. We actually like that dark flavor and are accustomed to it. But when we drank Javatino Signature Blend we didn’t miss it at all and we both went:
“Mmmm that’s good,” at the same time.
The Second Was Sumatra.
In all fairness, I have never had a Sumatra coffee I liked as much.
In my experience, Sumatra has always been a flavor I enjoyed as an accent – or highlight – for other flavors in blended coffee.
The blend we used in my shop in Seattle had Sumatra in it. The contribution it made to the finish was really nice.
Javatino’s is an excellent Sumatra.
In this case, I like it enough to consider drinking it regularly even though I generally prefer blended coffee over single origin.
It’s really good.
Surprising and satisfying.
On the Way Home…
My wife made a declaration on the way home today.
I think that is my favorite espresso.
Wow, that’s a big deal. We have had espresso at a lot of places. My wife has a great palate and she does not use the superlative very often.
I agree with her.
Javatino Coffee – Awesome Artisan Roaster

We have searched and sampled coffee for a long time. We like the Javatino Team personally and love the coffee – enough to choose Javatino as our roaster.
