Really Good Coffee in Florida…

Florida has many advantages but it’s often hard to find really good coffee. It’s not really a coffee culture here – like Seattle or San Francisco – at least not on the west coast of Florida. My best friend here, who has lived in Florida for a long time, never drinks coffee.

Maybe that’s because of the weather. During ‘season’ the drink of choice here is one of the following single malt, margaritas, daiquiris, mojitos, or beer…

Some of the weirdest coffee, I’ve ever had was right here is Sarasota – kind of like a concept car instead of the real thing. I’m a big fan of multi-bean blends as opposed to single varietals. Varietals taste nice but they have limited depth in the finish. One exception to that rule – for me – is a french roast Columbian supremo properly ground and brewed in a French press. Fabulous taste, but a bit too much caffeine.

These guys pull a good shot consistently. Their espresso blend has a very good finish and a nice front end.
